Chalk It Up – Chalkboard Themed Back to School Ideas

We’re reaching the end of our back to school themed posts! Though we’re sad that we’re going to have to wait a whole year to blog more about back to school, we’re still excited to share a few more ideas with everyone before we pack away our school supplies.

Back in elementary school, I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up because I loved drawing on the chalkboard. Fast forward (many, many) years later, and the obsession is still ever so present. There’s just something about the chalkboard that brings back so many memories! So in today’s post, we’re dedicating it to chalkboard themed ideas that are perfect for back to school!

Back to School: Creative Lunches & Bento Boxes (Part 2)

Can you believe it? Almost exactly to this day a year ago (just one day off, but who’s really counting!), we posted some fun lunch and bento box ideas for back to school (check out the post here). We’re back with a part 2 because that post was just so fun to write, and so many more lunch ideas have surfaced that we just had to share them!

For those of you that are not familiar with bento box lunches, let’s do a little bit of a recap from last year:

This creative way of lunching comes straight to us from Japan, and is now seen in many countries (and cafeterias around the globe). Many Japanese children bring elaborately decorated lunches (known as bento boxes) to school.

Without further ado, here are some fun lunch and bento box ideas for 2013 back to school!

Don’t you wish you had these back in school, cause we do! If you know a kid starting school soon, surprise them on the first day of school with a cute bento box. We adults may not be going back to school exactly, but it doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy these cute lunches, as well!

Apple Themed Back to School Snack Ideas

We love our themed posts, especially for back to school because they’re reminiscent of our younger days (check out our previous post on Pencil Themed Back to School Snack Ideas)! One theme we couldn’t wait to blog about for BTS is apples.  It used to be tradition to bring an apple on the first day of school for the teacher. That soon evolved to other back to school gifts, but apples always made an appearance in the classroom.

In today’s post, we’re going to bring back the BTS apple idea, but with a twist! Instead of real apples, we’re going to share some fun apple themed food ideas for back to school, perfect for students and teachers!

Pencil Themed Back to School Snack Ideas

Pencils are a definite necessity for back to school supplies. Without pencils, how can we write and do homework? So to show our appreciation for this essential writing instrument, we’re sharing some fun pencil themed food and snack ideas for back to school!

Spring Projects for Recycling Plastic Easter Eggs – Part 2

Last year, we posted a fun blog post about recycling (aka re-purposing) old Easter Eggs for the springtime (click here for post). We’re coming back a year later with a part 2. We found a few more projects to make use of all the leftover plastic Easter eggs we collect (we know you do it too)!

These ideas are great for those of you who have a surplus of plastic Easter eggs, but don’t want to throw them away after the holiday is over. We can do so many things with them that we never thought of!  Here are a few ideas to try:

Via Sweet Bean Gardening

Wrap a plastic Easter egg with twine like the one from Sweet Bean Gardening to make a muted decoration suitable for any season.

Via Handmake My Day

Add them to a spring wreath like this one from Handmake My Day.

Via Better in Bulk

Better in Bulk turned a bunch of plastic Easter eggs into a fun topiary decoration!

Via Naptime Journal

Or string all the eggs together to make a colorful garland for a fun outdoor party like Naptime Journal!

These are just a few projects to try with your Easter eggs! Don’t forget to check out last year’s post for more ideas. We might even come back with a part 3 next year if we find more fun projects! 😉
