Have you been doing your fair share of spring cleaning lately? We have! Though it may seem like a lot of work to be doing while there’s a nice spring breeze going on outside (being cooped up in the house can be a bummer), but it is certainly worth it in the end.

We all know the usual targets of spring cleaning: closet, junk mail, refrigerator, etc, but oftentimes, the littlest things are the ones we overlook. Here are a few more tips and tricks to try this spring cleaning season.
Disinfecting the disposal drain
The kitchen sink and garbage disposal can be a breeding ground for bacteria and odors. Make a quick DIY disposal deodorizer with a few items found in your kitchen: slices of lemon (without seed), salt and ice cubes.
Coupon/Reciple file folder
We love using coupons, but we always forget to bring them out with us shopping because they are scattered all over the kitchen! We got this tip from watching “Extreme Couponing”: put the coupons in a folder using sheet protectors, and organize by type. Not only will you have all your coupons in one place, you won’t be fumbling at the cash register. This also works great for recipes.
Air out rugs and mats
Rugs and mats in high traffic areas can attract a wide range of smells that just can’t seem to be vacuumed away. A quick way to get rid of any strange smells and odors in rugs is by airing it out in the sun. Sunlight is a natural disinfectant, and a quick blow in the breeze will do it some good.
Clean/Replace shower curtains
Shower curtains can collect a whole lot of soap scum and mildew over the months. Toss the liners in the wash for a quick rinse, or replace them when their time is up.
Home lost and found
Create a designated spot for putting loose items. For example: miscellaneous screws and tools, stray buttons, small batteries, pen caps, etc etc. When you’re looking for something, this can be the first place you look.
These are all quick and easy ways to get started on spring cleaning, and shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes each to do. Give it a try!
