When we think of the upcoming warmer months, we imagine relaxing outdoor brunches in the sunshine. However, we can’t be doing this all the time–we have places to go, people to see! But if we have a little bit of time on our hands between jumping from task to task at home, why not enjoy it to the fullest and ACT like we’re having a fancy outdoor brunch when we indeed don’t have time for it!
One popular brunch time treat is the mimosa–champagne and orange juice. Great for a brunch, but probably a little too decadent for an at home treat. Today, we’re going to share with you a quick recipe for a non-alcoholic mock mimosa, an orange spritzer, that can be enjoyed anytime you want!
Recipe & Supplies for TWO 8 oz drinks:
- 1 cup carbonated water, unflavored seltzer, or club soda
- 1 cup orange juice with no pulp
- a sweetener to taste (sugar or honey)
- serving jar w/ lid
- mixing spoon (optional)
In a serving jar with a lid, pour in the juice. Slowly pour in the carbonated water. Do this as slowly as possible because you don’t want to lose the carbonation before the drink is served.
If the mixture begins to fizz from the stirring, quickly put the lid on the jar to keep the air from escaping. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add a bit of sweetener and lightly stir. We recommend using a sweetener that is easily soluble so it does not require a lot of stirring. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator until ready to serve, with the lid on tightly.
This delicious drink is perfect for the spring or summer. Don’t like orange juice? No problem! Switch it to any juice you would like. Pineapple is also a great choice to try. Throw in a splash of blood orange juice when serving to make it look like a sunset!
Whenever you have a few minutes to spare, enjoy a delicious spritzer to relax. Serve it in a fancy champagne flute to make it even more fancy! We hope you will give this spritzer a try, and have a relaxing weekend!
