4th of July in America is filled with tons of picnics and barbeques to celebrate our independence as a country. I’m a big fan of picnics and barbeques. One of my favorite outdoor desserts will definitely have to be jello! Not only are they refreshing for the summer months, but they are easy to make!
Jello is also a great way to infuse your 4th of July with patriotic spirit! Almost everyone enjoys a good jello! In today’s blog post, I’m going to share with everyone a fun recipe to make a red, white, and blue layered jello treat!
- condensed milk
- gelatin powder
- strawberry or cherry jello mix
- blueberry jello mix
- mold or tray
To create the white layer, mix 1 cup of hot water with 2 envelopes of gelatin powder, and 1/2 cup of condensed milk. To create the blue and red layer, mix 1 cup of water, 1 envelope of gelatin, and 1 box of jello mixture for each color.
When all the mixtures are ready, get your jello mold of choice ready (can be anything from a bowl to a bundt cake tin, etc etc!). Cover the bottom with a layer of the blue jello mix. Place the mold into the refrigerator until the layer is fully set. Pour in the white mix on top until it forms another layer. Put into refrigerator until that layer is set. Finally, pour in the red jello mix, and do the same! When all the layers are completely set, you can remove the jello from the mold or leave in the tray.
If you want your jello layers to be more opaque, replace a little bit of the water with milk instead.
Once your jello is ready, you can cut them into shapes of stars with a cookie cutter!
