As mentioned in our most recent blog post, pumpkins are a decorating staple for the home in the Fall and during Thanksgiving. However, not everyone wants to decorate with real pumpkins. Real pumpkins are heavy and can be costly to purchase. As an alternative, I found a fun paper craft pumpkin idea that can make fun paper pumpkins for the tabletop! It’s super quick and easy to make!
- orange cardstock (patterned or plain)
- green paper
With a compass, draw circles on the orange cardstock. The bigger the circles, the bigger the pumpkin. You’re going to need about 12 circles per pumpkin. Stack the circles together and slightly snip off the bottom to create a flat edge.
Fold the circles in half (patterned side facing in) and glue all the outsides of the circles together, creating a 3D circle. Be sure to match the flat edge so that your pumpkin can stand up without rolling around!
To create the stem, cut a rectangular shape out of the green paper. Glue onto the top of the pumpkin. Be sure to add a few curly q’s for extra embellishment!
Cardstock is ideal for this project to create stability for the pumpkin. This project can be made with plain or patterned orange cardstock. Also, using patterned orange cardstock can add a whole lot of character to your pumpkin!
